Ferries to and from Mull in Winter

Oban to Craignure Ferry

Caledonian MacBrayne (Calmac) run a ferry from Oban to Craignure (Mull) which takes 50-60 minutes each way.

There are normally TWO ferries on the Oban-Craignure route during the summer season, but in winter this becomes more complicated because of the need for ships to go for annual overhaul. So at times there are two ferries in winter, but at other times there is only one. It is best to check directly with Calmac for winter timetable and fares.

Booking for your car is advisable at all times, and even in winter some sailings are full. Book as soon as you can; bookings can be changed later if necessary. You need to check in at Oban pier 30 minutes before sailing time.  Travel Times & Distances on Mull

Pedestrians are not normally required to book, but you can book on line, and it may be a good idea if you're travelling by public transport as it will save time. Some of the transfer times between bus/train and ferry are tight. Tickets can also be bought on arrival at the ferry terminal. Pedestrians must board ten minutes before sailing time.

You can book on line.   Tel: 0800 066 5000 / 01631 566688.

Lochaline to Fishnish Ferry (Winter)

This route is convenient if you're coming to (or leaving) Mull from/to the North. e.g. Skye, Fort William, Inverness. If you're travelling from/to the South or East it's about 35 miles further to Craignure than via the Oban ferry, but you might save some time as the crossings are shorter.
