Eating Out
2022 proved to be a busy tourist season on Mull, and some of our visitors had difficulty getting an evening meal (particularly on the day of arrival) if they hadn't booked somewhere in advance. 2023 is shaping up to be much the same.
Please note that most places take last orders at 20:00 or 20:30
Fionnphort
The Keel Row (pub)
The Keel Row in Fionnphort reopened in 2022 under new ownership and management. It's been busy, so we strongly recommend booking. You can do this at: https://tableagent.com/scottish-highlands-uk/keel-row/. The early evening spots tend to go quickly, specially at weekends, so it's best to book in good time (a few days ahead).
Ninth Wave
This restaurant has ceased to do evening meals. It is now offering lunches, but only for pre-booked parties. You can e-mail them from their web site, where you'll also find sample menus and prices. Tel: (01681) 700757
The Lazy Cow
Opened in July 2022, the Lazy Cow is a coffee shop/café located about a mile out of Fionnphort, a few hundred yards up the Kintra Road (and just a short walk from Maolbhuidhe). It offers drinks, snacks and light lunches from 10:30 to 16:00. Excellent fare. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The Creel
The Creel is a seafood cabin near the Iona ferry terminal in Fionnphort. There's a small outdoor eating area, or take-away. We've had excellent reports. Usually closes around 18:45 (after arrival of last ferry from Iona)
The Kiosk
Almost hidden in the ferry terminal building, the Kiosk offers hot and cold drinks and snacks until about 3:30pm
Bunessan
The Argyll Arms/Bunessan Inn (hotel & pub)
Reopened mid-June 2023 following change of management and refurbishment. Trading under a new name, believed to be 'The Bunessan Inn' but yet to be confirmed (as of 17th June). 01681 700240
Iona
There are two hotels on Iona which are good for lunches but not evening meals as the last ferry back is at 18:30.
Argyll Hotel
On the village front. Good for lunches, with a Specials board. Tel: (01681) 700334
